Mission Statement

Atheist Families is an organization that is focused on families attempting to raise children in a secular environment. The focus will be on parents and children, but we encourage membership of all people who are interested in finding more religion-free social opportunities.

Although the site is called 'atheist families', we welcome people everywhere on the non-theistic spectrum, so Agnostics and Deists are welcome. Also, we welcome people who are unmarried or who have no children, but want to participate in building secular communities and have an interest in providing secular worldviews to the next generation.

Some of our planned activities:

• Provide and promote events where families can gather in a non-religious setting and atmosphere
• Organize playdates and learning trips
• Host a forum for advice and discussion of issues pertinent to families
• Promote political causes preserving the separation of Church and State
• Organize and encourage members to volunteer in their communities and contribute to charitable causes
• Provide networking opportunities
• Develop learning materials and exercises for children that focus on examining the natural world and developing a healthy sense of curiosity and critical thinking
