Happy and sad

Posted in

I'm so happy to come across this site, and I applaud you both for creating it. I know how difficult it can be to find the time for such things.

As a single father of three boys I can't tell you how much I think we freethinkers need this kind of community support. It is difficult enough raising a family, but we have the extra challenge of doing so when it seems everyone is against you! Myself, like many others, I come from an extended family of fundies and it's so frustrating when everyone thinks you're raising your children to be satanists!

But I'm also sad to see the lack of support you've received so far and truly hope your site takes off in due time. I thank you both and will continue to monitor your site in the future, as well as spread the word where I can!

thanks for the post

I think we can build traffic and support over time. Truthfully, it would be happening a bit quicker if I devoted more time to it. Free time is hard to come by with young toddlers running around, which I guess is sorta ironic...I don't have time to run a family support site, because I'm too busy raising a family. I guess that is as it should be.

One thing, I'd really like to do, and hope to have time to organize, is a community picnic for non-believers. That way, I can hopefully spread the word in 'the real world' and get some more traffic that way.

Remember, there are a LOT more of us than we think, we are just marginalized and unorganized.

Just shared the site on FB...

Maybe it will bring more traffic in, and get some good conversations going.

I've posted word of your site on my facebook which currently has over 900 members, as well as on the Faithless and Free group wall with over 1,000 members. Hopefully, this will generate some support for your site and get people communicating. This is a great concept and I'd like to see it fly. One of my main issues that I speak out against is religious indoctrination of children, so any support non-theists can get is beneficial.
